Back to my AF Roots
Just completed my second Air Force creation!
The first is a diaper bag I made for an adorable little girl named Clare born last spring.
The purse is knit, the 2 blues on the outside and tan on the inside, it is reversible! I crocheted the AF Academy logo and sewed it on, so it has a neat textured affest. I used craft foam sheets in between the layers to help it keep it's shape and still be washable! The Button is a button off of one of Jim's Blues uniforms!
I have about 10 more ideas, just need to win the lottery so I have the time! A maid would be nice too!!!

The diaper bag is made out of one her father's old flight suits! I also made her a little sweater and got her a couple of adorable outfits! baby cloths are just to cute & easy!
Today I finished a purse I have been working on for a while - always something interupting progress! I can't wait to carry it at the Academy this month! I will be the only mom with an Academy logod purse!!!

The Last One
The last one stands alone almost quivering succumbed to his fate but not realizing his opportunity. What was once filled with noise of all kinds is now quiet, calm, tranquil even, all buffers have left, just he remains. Left with memories of what was and fleeting vague visions of what will be, gleaning hope for tomorrow from any direction. With fire in his eyes and non in his heart his belly aches for signs and direction, but he is the last one…

Saturday morning Sale #1
I have not done this since 1991 when I spent a Saturday with some paintings I had done at an art fair. I remember then thinking it was not really a great way to spend a Saturday.I mean let's face it everyone is looking for a deal, an-as-of-yet-undicovered master who does not the realize the value of their own work so they can buy it cheap, keep it in a closet for a few years and then sell it for millions!
I am not sure how often it really happens, but that was my impression that saturday of the crowd and everyother crowd at an art fair I have been to since. How do they know more than the artist - sorry, another post I suppose!

I am ready, I am ready to spend a gorgeous Saturday morning with my husband enjoying a large McCafé, checking out all the neat things the other vendors make, but I'm not sure I am ready for much more than that! I enjoy talking about Viking Knit and meeting new people who are creative, I enjoy feedback about what I am doing - maybe this won't be so bad after all! I'll let you know - but man, I think my table is going to look pretty snazzy in the sunlight!

Concrete, Silver & Rock
Weekends are so amazing...started Thursday eating asprin, headache that just wouldn't quit, but when aspin kicks in watch out! I meet a dear friend at Meade's Cafe and was able to wear a new peice in natural brass.
I would love to be able to do more of this, but it might require winning the lottery! Look for handmade silver pendants in some peices. I will certainly do this again!
Spent a few hours listening to my all time favorite musician at Wheat State Pizza.
Sunday I woke up with such a throbbing headache I could hardly look out the window with the sun shining, but again after a few asprin...I decided to take a stab at painting one of the concrete leaves we made a few weeks ago.
You can't see the colors well in this lighting, but you can tell it looks great on lace - and it is now filled with candy and accepting guests at Grandma & Grandpa's house. I will be making more of these - too much fun!
It rained Monday morning, normally not a good way to start a week, but this rain made my headache go away and left us this at 7am!

A Day in Derby
Spent a great day today shopping in Derby, KS with my better half! Recently Derby had 2 new business's open; 'Down Home Sweets' a neat place to hang out with your mates and have some pie, cookies or cake. And 'A Little Bit of Briton' a cool little British grocery store. We spent quite a while in there today! Brought back some great memories of our time in England! Do love those Brits!!!

Snake in the grass
I know it has been hot every where this summer, we have had 32 days this summer over 100 and today I heard it was 110! Everyone is waiting patiently for the cool down - I heard it's coming in January!
I must admit I felt very bad for this young guy, we normally don't see them, but it was so hot he couldn't make himself move when we walked out to the garden, or even when I walked out again with the camera! He did get a little upset when I started poking the camera in his face, but he merely hissed, he didn't make any attempt to move!
I think he is very pretty, classic red & black check pattern with racing stripes! He's probably very fast when it's only 90 out! I hope he is eating lots of bugs and gets big enough to eat some moles!!!

Productive Weekend ~ and relaxing too!
This weekend was not what I thought when I headed off to work on Friday morning. Not an extraordinary thing in the Mayou household, what is extraordinary is that it turned out I have spent the majority of this weekend with myself, quiet, thoughtful, creative and relaxing! There was some fun too!!!
This 8 inch bracelet has a cute fish bead and some gorgeous blue swiss beads with a heart clasp.
This three legged turle must be lucky ~ all he lost was 1 leg!!! 8 inch single knit bracelet.
Wishing everyday was Sunday!
This amazing pig was a gift from our neighbors, they are great friends who are pateintly waiting for us to get some land and pig farm - with gorgeous reminders of their patience! She is modeleing the tow 32 inch gold necklaces I made. They can be worn alone, with pendants or as triple wrapped bracelets.

Kickin' Saturday!
This weekend was supposed to be quiet and uneventful, maybe a swim meet, maybe a beer, but nothing goes the way it's supposed to. No swim meet, no beer...
Instead, some alone time for mom and some kickin' cowgirl boots! The Cattlemen's Ball awaits my presence!!! Volunteering of course, but everyone ought to look this good when working for a cause!
Tomorrow I think tomorrow I will make my new boots some Bling! I hear boots need bling...I'd love to see your ideas for bling on these boots, cause lets face it, I am new to this!

Windows
Windows are a metaphor for life; you can see into spaces and out into the world. A window offers protection from the wind and the rain, while offering a glimpse at the majesty of nature.
These images amaze me with their simple beauty, their color and luminosity, their silent reality.
I believe the prices add to the reality of this piece. After all, we all pay for the views we have and hold dear!

The Perfect Iced Coffee
A friend told me about The Pioneer Woman and among all of her amazing posts I stumbled accross this recipe for the Perfect Iced Coffee
Try it, Try it, I say
P.S. two glasses did keep me up all night, but I am looking forward to sitting on my step tonight with another glass!

Happy Birthday
On Friday Night we had a few other 15 year old boys over to celebrate - they celebrate anything and everything. They are just happy people and glad for a chance to hang out. The fireworks really help.
Before the fireworks they did have an awesome water fight. We only lost one cell phone, it was tragic. It was Carl's, he got it Wednesday, he had been waiting over a week for a new phone because his father took his last one swimming twice!!! It's in rice and we are hoping for a miracle.
Although Carl was not born on Independence Day like his grandmother and great grandfather he shares a few of their characteristics and their love of celebrating Independence Day over their birthdays. A trait I have always admired. They may have been celebrating Independence Day, but Carl, here's to You Babe!

This was Dad's Father's Day present - some assembly required, but he seemed to enjoy it!

It's gotta be about the chain
Since I learned viking knit I have been inspired to create. I have made necklaces and bracelets most of which my family and friends have been fortunate enough to recieve as gifts throughout the year!
I have tried adding beads to make it look a little more like what you might see at a quaint boutique; but I have decided it's got to be about the chain - elegant, sophisticated and simply gorgeous. refocusing...

Music & Yarn
Not on a Friday evening.
I have decided to share my love of yarn and wire with the world. Perhaps give and recieve a little inspiration.
I see in my future a bohemian artist life - hopefully on a mountainside overlooking a majestic lake; with Jim and a few pigs!
